US Military and wearing of a jock strap... This is an HONEST, SINCERE question!!!

Do military men wear jocks/cups/etc. while on duty? At least the men that are in athletic intensive missions/maneuvers.

Yes it would make some HOT fantasy material, this is a genuine question.

Respectfully, pup

In the two years I was in the ARMY I never saw anyone in a jock. Years later I saw a few Marines wearing jocks, in the 80s the marine corps had jocks with their logo on them.

The current websites for some Army training bases require recruits to
bring an athletic supporter when they report for basic training.
I suppose jocks are sold at the PX, but this would suggest that
jockstraps are not part of the uniform issue.

There is literature and some anecdotal stories on the web describing the
remedial fitness platoons which existed during the Vietnam war draft.
In order to meet induction quotas, the Army had a program where 100,000
conscripts were accepted even if they were overweight or small and
frail. Prior to being assigned to a basic training company, they were
cycled thru a special fitness program for four weeks where they were

As a side note, there were some studies published after the war
indicating that the program was the best example possible of how NOT to
run a fitness program. There were injuries, stress fractures, heat
strokes and even deaths resulting from excessive physical exertion of
the recruits.

Can't be of much help on url's.

If you Google search " BCT athletic-supporter" it should get you the
jockstrap requirements for Army basic combat training. Varies by base
whether required or optional...Go figure?

Unfortunately the link to the discussion about the Nam era remedial
fitness platoons no longer works. It was in WebTV several years ago.
Described recruits receiving a half dozen jockstraps instead of
customary OD boxers.
Said they were mostly pissed off about being drafted and the forced
exercises and the jocks were not that big of a deal.

Some brief discussion about treatment of these recruits still on line in
the earlier messages at Group-Physical-Exams @ YahooGroups.

There was academic article about fitness platoon methods in Journal of
Physical Education and Dance in the early 80's. Doubt that it is on
line Focused more on things like lactic acid from excessive exercise,
stress fractures from excessive running
an some of the heat strokes and even deaths by pushing the guys too
hard. I doubt that the article even mentioned jockstraps, but it didn't
speak too highly of the Army's training methods.
